Working at Firefly
What we do
We’re always on the lookout for people who share our vision to transform learning by empowering students, teachers and parents.
It’s an exciting time to join Firefly and our rapidly growing team.
In early 2017, Firefly was selected as one of the UK’s 33 Most Promising Tech Companies, after being invited to join Upscale by Tech City.
The Firefly story began as a partnership and continues to be developed and led in partnership. Our partnership is built on mutual respect and desire to succeed as a single team. Working together effectively requires us to prioritise empathy and communication skills, as well as being able to challenge each other's ideas in a healthy debate.
We value focus and believe that finishing three things well is better than being busy doing ten things badly. This requires constantly saying no to perfectly good ideas so we can focus on our best. It also means being respectful and empathetic when communicating with others about why we have made the choices we have.
In a rapidly changing world and industry we think that learning is critically important and promote reflection, curiosity and self-improvement.
Making smart, tough decisions
Knowing and weighing up relevant factors enables us to come to a decision and be able to communicate it, even when the outcome may be difficult. Relevant factors can be both quantitative and qualitative, and we value the wisdom team members can bring from their diverse experiences.
Delighting our clients
We care about the impact of our work on the schools, teachers, students and parents that we serve and want to exceed, not meet, their expectations. We avoid passing the buck and try to help even outside areas of our own contracted responsibility.
Building a world-beating team
We’re committed to investing in diverse people who have unique backgrounds, talents, needs and aspirations to build a world beating team. We believe that by hiring, supporting, trusting and holding accountable the best people we can have a unique competitive advantage.
We take pride in the quality and aesthetic of what we produce. However, we also know that real artists ship and we recognise that craft is only valuable when people are able to enjoy it. When balancing quality versus executive we always try to make sure that what we produce is improving over time.
